Edelman Launches Sustainability Practice

Anne Augustine Appointed Head of Sustainability

London – Edelman today announces the launch of a specialist practice providing counsel and solutions to address the challenges of sustainable business. Anne Augustine, former EMEA Director of Corporate Sustainability at EDS, joins the agency as Head of Sustainability. The practice brings together a multi-disciplinary team of experts in the field from across the UK business, as well as strategic counsel from Edelman’s advisory board – including Jules Peck, environmental and wellbeing adviser and Director of David Cameron’s Quality of Life Commission, and Professor Noreena Hertz, Fellow of Cambridge University’s Judge Business School and Professor of Globalisation, Sustainability & Finance.

Edelman’s Sustainability practice will provide strategic counsel, develop and deliver effective solutions to address social, economic, ethical and ecological sustainability, and manage stakeholder outreach around sustainability issues.

Robert Phillips, UK CEO, says: “We have been doing some significant and ground-breaking work in sustainability for some time. By consolidating that expertise under Anne’s stewardship, we can develop our offering and our thinking further to help our clients navigate their journey to sustainability. In an age of transparency and accountability, embedding responsibility into business is an imperative.”

Anne Augustine joins Edelman from EDS (now HP Enterprise Services), a $27billion global IT services business, where she was EMEA Director of Corporate Sustainability. She was the programme director for the three-year Environmental Sustainability Strategy. She was also responsible for thought leadership and demand creation with government departments and private sector organisations, for corporate affairs liaison with analysts, the media, industry groups and policy makers. Anne has over 15 years’ corporate experience of consulting, programme management and business development across Europe, the Gulf and USA. She has previously worked for Microsoft and Westminster City Council.

Anne Augustine comments: “There are reports of a growing disconnect between corporate sustainability concerns and actions as businesses are overwhelmed by often contradictory demands and expectations in what sustainability should look like. Our ambition is to help our clients navigate this path so that ecological, social and economic wellbeing are at the heart of business decision making and engagement.”

Anne is a member of the advisory panel of the Oxford-Achilles Working Group on CSR at the Saïd Business School at Oxford University. She is a trustee of the national charity Women’s Environmental Network and is communications coordinator for a grassroots sustainability community group.
