London — BARD, the British Association of Record Dealers, has appointed Edelman to provide public relations and public affairs support in the UK.

Edelman will support BARD across the full range of the association's interests, providing strategic advice.

BARD is a UK trade organisation formed specifically to act as a forum for the retail and wholesale sectors of the music, video, DVD and Multimedia products industry. BARD also exists to communicate and negotiate with government departments and local authorities on behalf of its members, to monitor legislation affecting its members and to oppose any legislation which might be contrary to member’s interests.

Kim Bayley, Secretary General, BARD, said:

"We were impressed with the understanding Edelman demonstrated of the issues and their innovative approach."

Neil Spring, Account Manager, said:

"We are delighted to have been appointed by BARD to assist them in this exciting area and we look forward to working with them. The entertainment retail industry is going through a dynamic period of change and faces a number of challenging issues. Framing BARD’s interests in a media and political environment is an exciting communications task."

The Edelman team will be led by Account Manager Neil Spring.
