Edelman UK has brought in David McKnight as Director of First&42nd, the agency's global specialist Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) business. A former senior manager at Ernst & Young, McKnight has over 17 years' international experience working across the whole spectrum of CSR activities for multinationals in a range of sectors. Based in the London office, he will be responsible for providing strategic consultancy to existing clients, including Orange and Deutsche Post World Net, and for the growth of First&42nd in the UK.

Edelman Public Affairs strengthens its team with the appointment of Kate Eden as the new head of the practice's Health offering.
Reporting to Alex Bigg, Managing Director of Edelman Public Affairs, Kate will oversee key client relationships and support the drive for new business opportunities in the health and pharmaceutical industry. In this role, she will also work closely with Edelman Health.

Edelman UK, the UK’s largest independent public relations firm, is launching a new Sports & Sponsorship practice, strengthening the agency’s global sports offering. The practice will be hubbed out of JCPR, Edelman UK’s Consumer division, and will be headed up by Kate Gordon in the newly created role of UK Head of Sports and Sponsorship.
The move capitalises on the growing sports industry and increased corporate and consumer interest in spectator and participatory sports in the run up to London 2012.

London — Edelman has been appointed by the Open University (OU), the UK’s largest University, to lead a campaign to raise its profile in a joint media relations and public affairs brief.
The OU wants to secure improved financial support for part-time students as well as ensuring their parity of treatment with full-time providers and students.

London — As Gordon Brown nears the end of a hundred days in Number 10, a poll reveals he has boosted trust in politics compared with his predecessor in Downing Street.
Nearly two out of every five surveyed (39%) in Edelman's Trust in Gordon Poll, conducted by StrategyOne, said they had more trust in politics with Gordon Brown as Prime Minister rather than Tony Blair.

London — Edelman Corporate has won the brief to deliver a corporate reputation programme in the UK for Mitsubishi Electric Europe B.V., the wholly-owned subsidiary of the Fortune 500 Company Mitsubishi Electric. Edelman will report in to Mitsubishi Electric's European headquarters, based in Uxbridge, and will offer support across the entire spectrum of the business. The account will be led by Pamela Fieldhouse, Managing Director of Edelman Corporate practice, and Nick Barron, Associate Director.

London — Edelman Health has promoted Galia Wilson to Director. An Edelman stalwart of five years standing, Galia originally joined as a senior account manager and has progressed rapidly through the management of the organisation.
Galia currently leads two key global accounts at Edelman on behalf of Pfizer and Novo Nordisk. She also oversees Edelman Health's talent management programme including team recruitment, career development, mentoring and HR.
