Edelman Public Affairs today announced the appointment of Chris Rumfitt, former Head of External Communications at Network Rail, as a Director in the practice. He will provide strategic consultancy to existing clients, as well as working on business development opportunities. He reports to Managing Director, Alex Bigg.

Edelman Public Affairs is working with Thomas Cook UK & Ireland to advise on its lobbying campaign to secure government support for an extra Bank Holiday for the British, a key initiative for the company. The account will be led by Alex Bigg, Managing Director, Edelman Public Affairs, and Luke Pollard, Senior Account Manager.

Edelman Public Affairs strengthens its team with the appointment of Kate Eden as the new head of the practice's Health offering.

Reporting to Alex Bigg, Managing Director of Edelman Public Affairs, Kate will oversee key client relationships and support the drive for new business opportunities in the health and pharmaceutical industry. In this role, she will also work closely with Edelman Health.

London — Edelman Public Affairs has been appointed as the public affairs consultancy of the Freight Transport Association (FTA). Edelman's remit is to build on the FTA's already strong relationships with political audiences in Westminster and Holyrood and to communicate the work that the FTA is doing on behalf of its members across a range of public policy areas.

London — Edelman Public Affairs and the agency's Corporate practice today announced they have been appointed by Reed in Partnership as the agency of choice for its corporate and public affairs business. The agency's brief includes stakeholder-relationship building and media relations activity to raise awareness of Reed in Partnership, which specialises in programmes designed to break down the barriers to employment for the long-term unemployed.

London — Consol Suncenter (U.K) Ltd has appointed Edelman to provide public affairs support in London, Edinburgh and Brussels.

Consol is the leading tanning salon chain in Europe, with more than 350 outlets in Denmark, Norway, the Faro Islands, Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Germany and throughout the UK. Consol Suncenter (UK) now operates over 70 salons in the Midlands, South coast, South West England and Wales with another 29 centres in Scotland under Consol Denmark directorship.

London — BARD, the British Association of Record Dealers, has appointed Edelman to provide public relations and public affairs support in the UK.

Edelman will support BARD across the full range of the association's interests, providing strategic advice.
