Edelman today announced the appointment of Leila Fataar in the newly created role of Director of Media Strategy.
Leila will oversee the strategic and tactical development of through channel campaigns to ensure Edelman’s brands stay at the forefront of the ever-changing communications and media landscape. The role will focus on crafting and delivering consumer-focused, content-led, innovative and creative solutions which transcend traditional PR and media, super-charging brand storytelling by integrating the owned, earned and paid space.
Leila joins Edelman from adidas Originals at adidas HQ in Germany, where she held the position of Global Director of PR and Social in the consumer facing Brand Communications department for over two years. In this role, Leila developed this integrated function, responsible for all global owned and earned channels, created high profile campaigns from strategy through creation and distribution, and oversaw global brand positioning and messaging through an earned media lens. For 10 years prior to this, Leila was Managing and Creative Director of London based boutique fashion and lifestyle creative communications shop, Spin Agency, which she launched from inception and managed business operations on a day-to-day basis.
Mel Hinds, Managing Director, Edelman, said of the hire “Confidently navigating the ever evolving media landscape has never been more important for brands and businesses, where do you place your bets if the influence constantly shifts? What impressed us about Leila was the fact she makes it her business to get ahead of the next media curve, giving us the capability to not only horizon scan the next big media shift, but help our clients profit from it.”
Leila Fataar said, “PR and Communication has changed forever. Brands today and in the future need an agency prepped and ready to connect the ever-moving dots to the consumer. This is the most exciting industry to be in at the moment and I am delighted to join Edelman to work with such a variety of recognisable household brands on doing exactly that.”
