Edelman announced today that Andrew Wilson and Mark McGinn will join the UK business as Executive Director, Purpose and Director, Brand and Social Purpose respectively.

In these newly created roles, Andrew and Mark will work with brands to develop purpose strategies that build trust, boost commercial growth, create multi-stakeholder value and deliver impact-led change within society. Edelman will combine the deep specialist expertise of Andrew and Mark with its crosspractice creative capability in areas including Brand, Corporate Reputation, Investor Relations, Government Relations, Technology, Employee Engagement, Healthcare, and International Affairs.

Andrew has a successful track record drawn from 25 years’ experience of working with executives in a range of multinational companies, helping them to develop a strategic approach to sustainable business growth. For the past eleven years, he was a director at Corporate Citizenship, a global strategy consultancy specialising in corporate responsibility and sustainability.

Most recently, Mark has held senior positions in Sustainability Marketing and Social Impact at O2. Prior to his time at O2, Mark was Head of International Marketing and Communications for (RED), helping some of the world’s largest brands fight AIDS.

Ruth Warder, General Manager, said: “Purpose is what makes a business and its mission truly valuable to people beyond products and services. In a world of shifting societal trust, organisations and brands need to connect better with people in ways that will build resilience, differentiate and contribute to their lives. I’m extremely excited to have Andrew and Mark onboard to help us tackle these challenges for brands.”

Andrew Wilson added: “This is a great opportunity to join a company that is setting the agenda in this area – enabling organisations to introduce business transformations that create sustainable and purposeful brands. The demand for companies to demonstrate their social, environmental and economic contribution has never been greater. Edelman is ideally placed to lead the way, building on its ground-breaking work with some of the most trusted brands.”
