LONDON, 4th June– Edelman UK today announced the appointment of Saratha Rajeswaran as Associate Director, Public Affairs.
Rajeswaran’s hire is another move in Edelman’s ambition to strengthen and expand its public affairs offering. This follows the hire of Rob Newman in November, who was previously Special Advisor to Liz Kendall.
Gurpreet Brar, Managing Director, Edelman UK, said of the appointment: “I’m thrilled that Saratha has joined the team. Her experience working with senior Conservatives combined with her exceptionally diverse background in Public Affairs will be a huge asset for Edelman. We are delighted to have Saratha join us and I very much look forward to working with her.”
Rajeswaran joins Edelman from Policy Exchange. She was previously the Deputy Head of the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Research Unit and co-author of the Unit’s groundbreaking report “A Portrait of Modern Britain.” Prior to joining Policy Exchange, she was Chief of Staff to Sir David Higgins, Chief Executive Officer of Network Rail, and previously Strategy Advisor to the Board of Network Rail – for whom she undertook reviews of Network Rail’s corporate governance and of the role of public engagement in railway strategy. Rajeswaran previously worked as a Special Advisor on Transport for the Rt. Hon Theresa Villiers MP, as well as for the Rt. Hon Theresa May MP.
“I am delighted to join such a creative and passionate team,” said Rajeswaran. “As the largest communications marketing agency globally, with credible expertise in brand, research and digital as well as corporate communications and public affairs, Edelman is uniquely positioned to provide a truly integrated communications offering under one roof, making Edelman the natural partner for powerful social purpose campaigns.”
