What has your journey into Edelman looked like and how did you get into the communications industry?

From studying Marketing at Bournemouth University during which time I decided to write my own blog (sadly now expired), I instantly knew I wanted to get into the digital space. I joined an SEO agency working with fashion and retail brands, collaborating with bloggers and influencers before venturing into the world of PR and hospitality where I created and implemented social media strategies for London-based restaurants and boutique hotel brands. I then decided I wanted to take a slightly different path and move in-house – which you wouldn’t think joining the world’s biggest PR film would necessarily offer – however the rare opportunity came up to join the Marketing team looking after the Edelman brand, and that’s where I began my Edelman journey.

What achievement are you most proud of?

It would have to be my most recent promotion to Associate Director which has taken me in a slightly new and exciting direction driving growth for the business.

What do you find most rewarding about the job?

I’m really lucky in my role because the Marketing team sits at the heart of the business, which means I get to work with pretty much every single team in the agency, not just in the UK but across EMEA too. I literally learn so much from the day-to-day conversations I have both in and outside of the Marketing team and I feel hugely supported within the team which is something I really value.

What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced throughout your time at Edelman?

When lockdown hit, I had to move out of the flat I was renting with a friend – I moved in with my brother, his girlfriend and my niece who was 2 at the time. We all had to adjust to lockdown life, working remotely and got into pretty good sync but whilst it was challenging to adapt to this new and bizarre way of life, it also meant I could spend quality time with family which created some of the best memories.

How do you stay motivated?

Morning coffee, walks and workouts.

If you could offer one piece advice to someone considering a role in Edelman, what would it be?

I would just say go for it! You never know where your journey could take you but Edelman is a great environment to shape your career path and learn from some of the most intelligent and inspiring people.

What do you do outside work to relax?

I’ve recently taken up reformer pilates which I’m loving as it’s basically a solid workout without much movement, but I also love spending time with friends and exploring new countries whenever I get the chance! Barbados is on the bucket list.
