What has your journey into Edelman looked like?

I graduated from university in 2018 with a degree in Film, Television, and Digital Media from Regent’s University London. Being thrown into the adult world, with what felt like little to no support and guidance, was jarring so I spent time in and out of hospitality while I applied for entry-level roles on the side with no success.

How did you get into the communications industry?

I discovered Media Trust and their Creativity Works programme which was a blessing, it exposed me to various practices within media including PR & Comms and that was it for me – I found something that combined my two loves of writing and content creation.

Edelman delivered a masterclass and when applications for the Open scheme were open, I took a chance and here I am!

Why Edelman Open?

I wanted to do something that gave me the opportunity to stimulate my mind, expand my knowledge and skills, and connect with other creatives. Throughout the scheme so far, I have been able to step out of my comfort zone by rotating to different departments such as Creative and Brand, and I’ve seen a lot of personal and professional growth within myself.

What do you like best about being on the scheme?

The pandemic ruined my social skills so my favourite thing about being on the scheme is being able to form connections. I’ve been able to build a network that consists of my fellow Openers, Edelman colleagues, journalists, and more.

I’m always having a coffee chat in between meetings, and I love that I have been given the opportunity to talk to people I would have never been able to without the Open scheme.

How do you relax outside of work?

It varies but my main go-to forms of relaxation are Sims 4, reading, and a well-earned Netflix binge. My work week can get busy and pull my brain into overdrive, so I always try to keep any form of relaxation simple and stress-free. I’m looking into throwing a spot of fitness into the mix so I can keep my mind and body both healthy and happy.

What are you most looking forward to in the next year?

Professional growth! My time at Edelman has blown my mind and it makes me feel very fortunate to have been offered this amazing opportunity to join the scheme – I can’t wait to see where I go next in my journey.

If you could offer one piece of advice to someone considering a role at Edelman, what would it be?

Go for it! Anything could happen and just knowing that you’ve shot your shot and not let an opportunity go past you is a huge achievement.
