Will Walden

Will is Edelman’s senior counsel for strategic communications. He advises CEO and c-suite level clients on crisis, campaigns, the media, politics and international relations. Based in London, Will provides counsel to clients across the UK, Europe and the Middle East. 

This is Will’s second senior leadership role with the firm, having previously run our UK public affairs division.

Will was chief counsel and communications director to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson for many years.

He helped run Mr Johnson’s successful 2019 leadership campaign, before leading the Prime Minister’s transition team at 10 Downing Street. He has also worked at the Foreign Office as Mr Johnson’s Chief Advisor and as Director of Communications and official spokesman during Mr Johnson’s mayoralty at City Hall. In 2012 Will led pan London communications during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Will spent nearly 20 years as a senior journalist with the BBC and ITN as a reporter, editor and producer, including spells as Chief Political Producer, Westminster News Editor and Deputy Bureau Chief in the Americas. 

Will is a trustee and board member of London’s Air Ambulance.
